Job Description

We are seeking a Control Manager on a direct hire basis for a construction company. Pay ranges from $130-150k in the greater Pasadena, CA area.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee, manage, and administer the execution of the project-specific QA/QC Plan, including supervision of QA/QC personnel, in alignment with the project safety plan.
  • Lead the development and implementation of the QA/QC Plan in coordination with the project team, owner/architect, and contract requirements.
  • Ensure adequate staffing with qualified personnel who possess the expertise necessary to effectively execute the QA/QC Plan.
  • Conduct ongoing inspections across one or more projects; identify and resolve minor issues; verify that approved materials are delivered and properly installed; and address non-compliant work to restore compliance.
  • Review project plans to confirm locations, elevations, and utility depths; coordinate material testing as needed; and apply general knowledge of the California Building Code.
  • Ensure all revisions or modifications are accurately reflected in final plans, including photographic documentation when required.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed daily, weekly, monthly, and final reports; facilitate communication and coordination with internal departments and external agencies.
  • Foster strong working relationships with owners, architects, consultants, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure QA/QC Plan compliance and project success.
  • Develop and implement engineering procedures, including document control, submittal management, RFI tracking, material sample management, cost change tracking, and approved change order documentation within budget constraints.
  • Continuously enhance processes and tools to efficiently document, monitor, and ensure compliance with contract requirements, improving overall project quality.
  • Perform inspections and testing, coordinate third-party testing when required, and evaluate and report results.
  • Direct and document the removal and replacement of non-compliant materials or workmanship, ensuring corrective actions are completed and verified before proceeding with further work.
  • Review plans and specifications thoroughly and report discrepancies to the supervisor.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with at least five years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and hands-on construction experience bridging field and engineering roles.
  • Experience with Division of the State Architect (DSA) construction and design processes.
  • Minimum one year of experience in supervising or inspecting engineering construction work.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret complex construction drawings and blueprints.
  • Familiarity with web-based project management tools (e.g., Procore, Newforma, Primavera).
  • An additional four years of qualifying experience may substitute for the required educational degree.

Candidates must meet one of the following):

  • Licensed Engineer or Architect in the State of California.
  • DSA Inspector Class 2 (or higher) with current California certification.
  • Certified Inspector through ICC, OSHPD, or HCAI with current California credentials.
  • Construction contractor, superintendent, or similar role with at least 10 years of verifiable training and field experience on building projects, including schools or hospitals regulated by LADBS, DSA, or OSHPD/HCAI.
